Complexe Kia now certified for green key service

We are proud to be certified for the Environmental Certification Program for Automotive Service Shops by Nature-Action Québec.

Here are the components of the program we follow at Complexe Kia.

We are committed to providing our clients with services that meet the requirements of the Green Key® program.

The commitments of our certified workshop

-The respect of environment

-The respect of laws and regulations

-Application of good environmental practices in workshop, going beyond laws and regulations

-The security of the customers

-The maintenance of equipment

-The competence of human resources

The criteria of the program

Each of the six criteria for recognition of the Green Key program has a number of elements that must be demonstrated in order to obtain certification. There are a number of complementary good practices to be implemented between the training provided under the program and the audit to obtain certification.

Residual materials

-Management of hazardous materials residues (criterion 1)

-Management of residues of non-hazardous materials (criterion 2)

-Management of consumer waste (criterion 3) Indoor environment

-Management of equipment and processes (criterion 4) Outside environment

-Maintenance of service areas and parking lots (criterion 5)

-Employee Awareness Communications Program (Criterion 6)

The Green Key® voluntary environmental certification program offers automotive workshops (cars, light and heavy trucks) recognition and enhancement of established environmental measures. Nature-Action Québec, a non-profit organization recognized for the quality of its environmental services, has developed the program and has been managing it since its inception. The GREEN KEY program was set up in close collaboration with the partners of the Table de concertation on the environment and road vehicles.

Environmental impacts

Environmental impacts Automotive services (cars, light and heavy trucks, heavy machinery) are offered by more than 12,000 workshops in Quebec, all areas combined (general repair, installation of added services, gas stations). Without monitoring the environmental quality of services, this sector is a huge source of pollution for soils, waterways and air.

Hazardous Material

Hazardous materials that seep into the soil contaminate the soil as well as groundwater, then streams and lakes.

Contamination of soil and surface and groundwater has a direct impact on biodiversity. The fragile balance between flora and fauna is disrupted thereby destroying habitats and reducing sources of food. Biodiversity is essential for the survival of ecosystems in the face of various disturbances (extreme weather conditions, parasites, new predators, invasive species, human activities, etc.). For humans, biodiversity is a source of food, lumber and heating, recreation, medicine, textile fibers and provides employment for a large number of Quebec workers.

The safe management of hazardous materials, verified by Clé Verte, is a response to concerns to improve the quality of the local and global environment.

Social benefits

The automotive sector employs 100,000 workers in Quebec. Among them, more than 30,000 employees made up of apprentices and technicians in body repair, painting and automobile mechanics daily handle products, parts and equipment whose application, replacement or use are sources of residual materials, including many are dangerous.

For the neighborhood, toxic fumes in the air and contaminated flows that would exceed the garage floor, are prone to make unsuitable the natural resources that are the air, the water and the grounds of the surroundings.

The implementation of the Green Key program is therefore a protection for the health of workshop workers and citizens of the area. Not to mention the feeling of belonging to a common vision, a team project and a unifying goal.
